Description: I believe accepting our size is good for our health, physically as well as mentally. But it's easier said than done, isn't it? Given the pressure on women to look a certain way, reinforced with the disinformation that equates that look with good health, it's not surprising that so many of us have deeply internalized these attitudes and ended up hating our own bodies. One of the ways I help women move from body hatred to body love, is seeing size acceptance as a grief process. Learning to accept a body that refuses to comply with society's rigid ideas about looks and size, is similar to accepting any inevitable loss. It involves the same stages of grief -- denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. With this in mind, I help women of all sizes develop healthier, more loving relationships with their bodies and, freed from the feeling that they have to wait for some elusive number on the scale to start living the lives they want to live.

I can help you discover new ways to relate to other people, and to yourself, that will raise your self-esteem and make room for more joy in your life. Providing therapy since 1986, I’m able to offer a variety of tools and techniques to support you as you change and grow in the ways that are import-ant to you. As we work together to make your life better, I bring patience and compassion to the ups and downs of that process, and I can show you how to do the same. I especially enjoy helping: women of all sizes who wish they could love their bodies exactly as they are codependents who wonder how to fit their own needs into family, work, or intimate relationships people who need effective ways to cope with depression, panic attacks, or anxiety queer folks, activists, and progressive thinkers who want to change the world as well as their own lives www.FeministTherapyAssociates.com www.MakeFriendsWithYourBody.blogspot.com
